New Year & Winter Inspiration
January 1, 2018Happy New Year!
New Years is always a time when people start thinking about new resolutions, making changes or start planning out their next year, and I am totally the same! This year I am thinking of some postitive habits that I would like to implement into my routine that hopefully will help me reach my goals, or that’s the idea at least!
Daily sketching is always something I have wanted to get better at, I am always so envious of artists who have a heavy daily sketchbook practice. I do sketch every now and then, but I would love to make it my daily warm up when I head into my studio first thing in the morning. When I do sketch or draw everyday (like during Inktober) I feel like it really improves the overall quality of my work, it keeps my drawing style loose and natural, and it also give me a place to work out ideas and design characters.
Winter is such an inspirational season for me and it is incredibly magical. The snow, the cold air, the animals and people that thrive in the wintery areas are incredible! I would really like to take advantage of how inspired I am during the winter, by carrying my sketchbook with me to jot down ideas and sketches I have throughout the winter months, and using my phone more to take pictures of things I see that are magical or inspire me, so I can remember them for a later illustration.
I am also in the process of changing my studio around, and cleaning it out so I feel fresh and ready to create everyday!
Do any of you have any New Years goals or find winter as magical as I do?
